Start your adventure in Zagorje region, the area of Croatia where the capital, Zagreb, is located. Enjoy the Austro-Hungarian influence that can be seen in the architecture and cuisine. From here, continue down to the Lika region, with its dense forest and hills. It is no wonder that the most famous national park of Croatia, Plitvice Lakes, is found here. From here, continue south to the coastal region of Dalmatia, and sleep in the “Old Capital” of this area, Zadar. The architecture here will remind you of the Venice, as the many monuments were built during the time when this republic had their control. From here, we go to to the current “capital of the Croatian coast”, Split. As this town “rose” from a Roman palace, many of the columns and temples will give you a feeling like you are walking through Roman ruins located in the Italy. After exploring the mainland, the Croatian islands come next. Take a ferry to the less known island of Lastovo. The lack of buildings and monuments will give you better insight in how this land used to look and chance to enjoy the nature. Take a ride with fisherman and “catch” your lunch out on the open sea. After Lastovo, Korcula will be your next destination. As the birth place of Marko Polo, this small town has a lot of stories that occurred during its long history. Learn about Greek settlers that first came here thousands years ago and try wine that they have brough back then. For the end of the adventure, you will visit famous region and city of Croatia, Dubrovnik. Walking into the UNESO protected city that was preserved to give you the feeling tha you are walking back in to the history.
