Our first stop is Mdina, the heart of the island, also known as the Silent City. Along with Valletta, it constitutes one of the most impressive architectural unities. The old capital city is a true city-museum, entirely encircled with bastions set on a rocky outcrop, and a maze of alleys lined with Patrician residences, baroque churches, convents and palaces. A stroll in this city of shadow and light will help us better understand the passionate history of Malta. This will be followed by the visit of St. Paul’s Metropolitan Cathedral and the cathedral museum. The next stop is the Ta’ Qali crafts village allowing you to see local artisans at work developing typical objects (lace, weaving, silver filigree and blown glass). One of the strong points of this visit is «Bristow Potteries» where the potters will disclose their secrets. The excursion will end with a visit to the botanical gardens of San Anton, followed by Mosta parish church, a neo-classic building whose dome is one of the biggest in Europe.
