The Montserrat Mountain, about 50 km outside Barcelona, is one of the most sacred sites in Spain. On top of Montserrat is an old Benedictine Monastery from the 800s housing the Black Virgin of Montserrat "La Moreneta." According to legend, the Black Virgin was found on the mountain by a shepherd and later brought to the church. Worshippers flock here to kiss the little statue and expect her to help with solving or relieving personal problems in return. Even Picasso, who was an atheist, could not resist the Black Virgin and donated three paintings. The area is home to two museums housing the gifts that the Black Virgin has received through the years. You can get to the top of the mountain by the cableway and enjoy an unbelievably beautiful ride over the mounting side. We can also arrange bus transport for you.
