Embark on a journey of a lifetime into the Uyuni Salt Flats and sleep overnight in a salt hotel.

Uyuni - Colchani - Incahuasi Island - Pia Pia Island - Candelaria (L/D)
We will begin our journey at 10:00 AM with a departure from our starting location. At 10:30 AM, we will start the tour by visiting the Cementerio de trenes (Train Cemetery) which is a unique and interesting train graveyard located in the middle of the Uyuni Salt Flat. Then, we will continue to El proceso de sal en Colchani (The Salt Production Process in Colchani) to see how salt is extracted and processed. After that, we will visit the Artesanias de sal (Salt crafts) to see the various ways in which salt is used to create beautiful and unique crafts. We will also visit the Montones de sal (Salt piles) to see the vast expanse of salt flats, and the Ojos de sal (Salt Eyes) which are small pools of water that are surrounded by salt flats. Lastly, we will visit Isla Incahuasi (Incahuasi Island), which is a small island located in the middle of the salt flats and is home to cacti and other unique plants.  Then, we will check-in to the Hotel de Sal, which is built entirely out of salt bricks and provides guests with an opportunity to experience what it's like to sleep on a bed of salt.
8:00 PM we check-in to the first night's accommodation at the Hotel de Sal, (shared bathroom) and we will enjoy dinner together.

Day 2: Villa de Candelaria-Polques, Bolivia

Go deeper into the desert to see rock formations and desert landscapes with red and green-coloured lakes and native flamingos before visiting the Eduardo Avaroa National Reserve.

Chiguana Desert - Lagoons - Eduardo Avaroa National Reserve - Red Lagoon Sol de Manana Geyser (B/L/D)
We will start the day with a 7:30 AM breakfast before departing at 8:00 AM. We will visit Volcan Ollague which is an active volcano, as well as Lagunas con Flamencos (Canapa Hedionda - Honda), which are saltwater lagoons that are home to thousands of flamingos. We will also visit Desierto de Siloli (Siloli Desert) which is a desert that is located in the Andes Mountains and is known for its unique rock formations. After lunch, we will visit Montanas de 7colores (7-Colored Mountains), El arbol de Piedra (The Stone Tree) and Laguna Colorada (Huayllajara) which is a red-colored lagoon that is home to thousands of flamingos. We will spend our second night at the Albergue Laguna Colorada (shared bathroom)

Day 3: Polques, Bolivia-Atacama, Chile

Start with a visit to Sol de Manana Geyser, visit the Dali Pampas to see the landscapes that inspired this famous artist and see the Green Lagoon before heading back to Uyuni or crossing the Chilean border and ending your trip.

Dali Desert - Green Lagoon – Uyuni(B/L)
We will start the day early with a 5:00 AM departure. We will visit the Geiseres, which are geysers that spout hot water and steam and the Aguas Termales (Thermal Waters) where people can relax and enjoy the natural hot water. After breakfast, we will visit Rocas de Dali (Dali's Rocks) which is a unique rock formation that was named after Salvador Dali, as well as Laguna Verde (Green Lagoon) and Laguna Blanca (White Lagoon) which are both known for their vibrant and stunning colors. We will also visit Valle de Rocas (Valley of Rocks) and finish the tour visiting Culplina and San Cristobal.
Finally, you'll head back to Uyuni, passing beautiful scenery along the way, and eating a picnic lunch next to the roadside. You'll go by the Valley of the Rocks, the Alota settlement, and the San Cristobal Village.
We'll get back to Uyuni by 6:30 pm. For those that wish to finish at San Pedro de Atacama in Chile instead of coming back to Uyuni: Guides will assist with your border crossing at 10:30 am, and you should arrive in San Pedro at 12:00 pm on the third day of the tour. Tilleggsinformasjon

This itinerary is subject to change without prior notice according to weather conditions, strikes, roadblocks, or force majeure events which are beyond our control. We will always do our best to follow the itinerary as close as possible.

ALTITUDE:

This trip takes place at a very high altitude. The salt flats are around 3,500 meters above sea level and the geysers around 5.000. Most guests will be able to feel the effects. We recommend acclimating yourself to above 3,000 meters before the trip and bringing along medication for headaches and tablets for altitude sickness in case you feel unwell. And remember, the real key is to drink lots of water!

ACCOMMODATION / FACILITIES ON TOUR:

The reality of visiting a remote area and immersing yourself in nature is that you will be far from modern facilities and the services will sometimes be slow and quite basic. Due to the harsh terrain, vehicle breakdowns are not uncommon, but the drivers are very used to fixing them and wait times are rarely excessive. The accommodations will be very basic, with cots and shared rooms, and the electricity and running water in the National Park are not as dependable as they are back at home. Toilet facilities may have a small local cost and showering is only available the first day. Make sure to bring snacks, some water, toilet paper, and plenty of warm clothes. That said, with some patience, preparation, and an appetite for adventure, this trip will certainly be a positive and unforgettable experience.

If you want a private room for the 2 nights you have to pay an extra cost of 250 BS/36 USD per person, and it's subject to availability, we reccomend you to pre-order.

Salt Hotel may not be availablebetween February and April, due to the monsoonseason and road conditions. Another hotel, not made of salt, will be provided.

SUGGESTED PACKING LIST:

Sun hat, sunglasses (to protect your eyes from the bright glare off the salt panes), sunblock, coat, gloves, wool hat, trekking shoes, warm socks, swimsuit and towel for hot springs at Sol de Manana Geysers, extra bottles of water (we recommend bringing a 5 Liter bottled water so you can have enough water for the whole trip), snacks, personal medication. Flashlight/torch, camera, extra batteries and memory card, charger (electricity available in most hotels), hand sanitizer, personal first aid kit. You will be sleeping up to 4,300 meters above sea level and depending on the season, temperatures can drop well below zero (reaching less than -15 degrees Celsius in the winter months of June and July) and the wind chill can be harsh, so bring plenty of warm clothes like a scarf and wool hat for the chilly evenings.

DRIVER AND GUIDE:

Please note that there is one guide per group. When exploring, your guide will be with the entire group. However, if groups are split into multiple vehicles you may be in a vehicle without the guide during transport.

IMPORTANT:

During the rainy season (from November to April), it is not possible to access Incahuasi Island. However, there is the possibility of visiting the island if on the day of your tour it does not rain. We also may sleep in a different location due to road access.

IMPORTANT:

During the winter season (from May to August), it is not possible to access Eduardo Avaroa National Park (red lagoon, Dali dessert, green lagoon). However, there is the possibility of visiting black lagoon and rock valley, changes to the itinerary maybe made without prior notice depending on the weather conditions. You may also sleep in different locations depending on vehicle access.
