2024 ITINERARY Kakadu, Katherine, and Nitmiluk National Park, and the surrounding area can be explored in the comfort of a fully guided and accommodated tour, showcasing the best of culture and scenery.

Discover the oldest and best preserved Aboriginal rock art in the world, spot some prehistoric reptiles (crocodiles) as we cruise the river system by boat, and experience local culture, stories, and traditions. We'll explore monsoon forests, spectacular escarpment country, and the amazing biodiversity of Kakadu's landscapes, home to many endemic species of flora and fauna. Enjoy comfortable air-conditioned accommodations in Kakadu and Katherine.

*The itinerary may be subject to change based on seasonal access, which prevents us from entering certain areas before and after the dry season. It is important to note that the falls rarely open before late June. The highlights are merely guidelines; Kakadu's diverse landscape and weather conditions necessitate high levels of flexibility. Group fitness levels also influence which falls to visit.

4 Day Kakadu and Katherine Gorge Experience - Private Single

Day 1

**Day 1: Darwin - Kakadu National Park** Start your adventure by departing from Darwin and head out to the floodplains of the Mary River to join Corroboree Billabong Wetland Cruises. Here we have ample opportunity to spot a huge range of Top End Bird life and not to mention some fresh and salty apex predators?? crocodiles! We journey on to Kakadu National Park where our home for the next two nights in Jabiru awaits, the Bowali Visitor Center offers a beautiful introduction to the Park's landscape and wildlife and we take time to soak it in, before checking into our local accommodation. After some relaxation and time to catch a glimpse of the elusive Tingo we journey north to Cahills Crossing on the border of Kakadu and Arnhem Land, here we see crocodiles lining up along the East Alligator River where they and the locals hope to catch some barramundi! We then take you to one of the best preserved collections of Aboriginal Rock Art in the world at Ubirr Sunset, this incredibly significant site showcases many styles of Rock Art and allows us to climb up high for a sunset that will blow you away looking out over the Nadab Floodplain. We head home back to Jabiru for a delicious dinner and olur comfortable indoor accommodation.**Meals:** Lunch, Dinner. **Accom:** Anbinik Kakadu Resort Private Room (with ensuite facilities) or similar. **Driving Distance:** 420km. **Hike Distance:** 2km + 2km

Day 2

**Day 2: Jabiru Return** Jim Jim and Twin Falls are probably two of the most famous and stunning locations within Kakadu, depending on seasonal factors and cultural observations we will visit one of these amazing waterfalls situated at the bottom of an adventurous 4WD road. Please be aware, that access to the falls is seasonal conditions permitting. Picnic lunches provided, we then hike out to the falls and enjoy plenty of time to cool off surrounded by thick monsoon forest. We head back home with a stop first at the Warradjan Aboriginal Cultural Center where you have time to delve into the culture of Kakadu and gain deeper insight into how the World Heritage Listed Park is managed.**Meals:** Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner. **Accom:** Anbinik Kakadu Resort Private Rooms (with ensuite facilities) or similar. **Driving Distance:** 250km. **Hike Distance:** 4km.

Day 3

**Day 3: Jabiru - Katherine** This morning we discover Burrungkuy (Nourlangie) Rock, Kunwarddewardde Lookout and have the potential to explore the surrounding areas of Nawurlandja Lookout and Anbangbang Billabong. Burrungkuy (Nourlangie) Rock features incredible Aboriginal Rock Art and Dreamtime stories of the Bininj people. Another 4WD track awaits us as we travel south and enjoy a picnic lunch at the plunge pool of Barramundi Gorge (Maguk) Waterfall, one of the most picturesque and pristine waterfalls in Kakadu. Please note at least a moderate level of fitness and agility is required here with flat pathways combined with rocky crossings leading you to the plunge pool through the monsoon forest. After our 2km walk, swim and lunch, we head to Nitmiluk National Park before heading into tonight's accommodation in Katherine to relax and enjoy the local hospitality. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner. Accom: Knotts Crossing Resort (either Shared Cabins or Private Suite rooms) or similar Driving Distance: 420km. Hike Distance and Grading: 1.5km Grade 3.

Day 4

**Day 4: Katherine - Darwin** It's an early start today to reach Nitmiluk National Park Katherine Gorge for a 2-hour boat tour (your own expense, around $120) or a hike along the sheer rock walls (1.4km to 4.8km return). If you are interested in doing a scenic helicopter flight there are a range of options available to take in the spectacular views of Nitmiluk Katherine Gorge, the Arnhem Land escarpment, and local wildlife. We will then be making our way towards the beautiful Edith Falls for further relaxation in picture-perfect Top End surroundings with a picnic lunch, clear water, and a welcome chance to cool off! We'll have you back in Darwin in time for you to meander down the famous Mindil Markets or spend a relaxing night at your accommodation reflecting on all the adventures you've had and new friends you've made. Meals: Breakfast & Lunch. Accom: H on Smith Hotel (either Twin Share or Private Suites)or similar Darwin Hotel. Options: Scenic helicopter flights, Katherine Gorge Cruise (at guest's own expense). Driving Distance: 470km. Hike Distance and Grading: 2km Grade 2-4 depending on the walk embarked. The main pool (when open) is a short walk with low grades. Upper pools require a reasonably steep climb and descent, and at least a moderate level of fitness and agility.
