Itinerary

Pick up is at 08:00 from your hotel or a nearby meeting point in Reykjavík. Please note that from 01JUN22 - 15SEP22, there is only pick-up starting at 07:45. Picking everyone up can take up to 30 minutes, your patience is much appreciated.

Your day starts with a visit to the world under a lava field where you get the chance to witness how the volcanoes created Iceland. This is an amazing hike through an ancient underground lava tube. After exploring the fascinating underworld in Leiðarendi (Leidarendi) cave, you will be dropped off at a café bakery for a lunch break. You will then be picked up at around 13:00 for an exciting drive of the famous Golden Circle including Iceland’s key attractions Thingvellir National Park, Geysir and Gullfoss Waterfall.

Our first stop will be the historic Þingvellir National Park (en. Parliament Fields). Þingvellir is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the original birthplace of the oldest existing parliament in the world. It is also the place where the tectonic plates of America and Europe meet with a clearly visible rift valley. You will learn about the Vikings and their meetings here as well as the geological forces of nature that have formed the national park.

Continuing our journey, we head to the geothermal area of Geysir, home of the famous erupting hot spring. Come and watch the heated water gurgle, bubble, and escape the ground with enormous force up to 25 meters high.

Our third and last stop for the day is Gullfoss (e. Golden Waterfall), the undisputed queen of Icelandic waterfalls. Gullfoss is truly a great sight to admire, with water rushing down three steps of lava layers exhibiting breathtaking power and grandeur.

We end our day in Reykjavik where you can get dropped off at one of our authorized locations. A great way to explore a lava cave followed by Iceland’s most famous natural attractions!

You will return to Reykjavík around 18:00 approximately.

Remember to bring: Warm outdoor clothing, thermal underwear and a warm sweater of either fleece or wool, waterproof jacket and pants, headwear and gloves. Good warm sturdy hiking shoes are highly recommended. Hiking shoes, waterproof jacket and waterproof pants can be rented for a small fee at time of reservation.
