Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption in Pelplin is the most important monument in the city. It is one of the most beautiful and greatest works of brick Gothic in Poland. Inside, there is a beautiful main altar with the relics of the St. Paul, Maurice, Jerzy, Barbara, Błażej and 40 other martyrs - the largest in this part of Europe, with baroque side altars and medieval oak sculptures. The cathedral has several other altars besides. The reliquary is opened once a year on the Feast of All Saints, November 1. The altars have valuable paintings and the monumental organ is from 1678-70.
