On the Buda side, you’ll find the Fishermen's Bastion, which is the old city wall that, between 1901–05, was renovated into a Neo-Romanesque fortress structure with stairs and pointed towers. The bastion is named after the Danube fishermen who defended the bastion in the Middle Ages. The bastion frames the square in front of Matthias Church, where there is an equestrian statue of Saint Stephen. From the bastion, you also have the best possible view over the Danube, including Margaret Island, the bridges, the Parliament, and St. Stephen's Basilica on the Pest side.
