Meet your driver in the morning in the lobby of Chamberlain Hostel. We'll depart for Sai Yok National Park in Kanchanaburi province (about a 4 hour drive.) Sai Yok National Park is part of a huge continuous forest complex called the Western Forest Complex, about 18,730 km², and comprises 19 protected sites in both Myanmar and Thailand. The mountainous regions of the park are covered with deciduous and dry evergreen forests mixed with bamboo. The lower areas along the Khwae Noi river are teak forest which was deforested during the Japanese occupation of Thailand but later replanted in 1954. Mammal species found in the park include elephants, gibbons, macaques, Malayan porcupines, slow lorises, serow, barking deer, sambar deer, wild boar and many more. There may be a few tigers still roaming the park!
On arrival at the park (please note that the entrance fee of THB$300 per person is at your own expense) you will be welcomed by the family who runs the restaurant and floating bungalow. It is time to board your private floating rafts and enjoy a well-deserved local lunch. Get ready for a real jungle adventure! Your raft will be pulled away by a longtail boat until you reach a quiet curve in the river. Surrounded by nature, you will hear no sound other than the birds singing in the trees and the occasional squabble of monkeys arguing over a juicy hanging fruit. We have loaded soft drinks and beers for you on the raft, so just sit back and relax between quick swims in the cool waters.

Wake up early with a tasty local breakfast on your raft and get ready for the second part of your jungle experience. Board a kayak right from the raft and cruise downstream through the national park. After passing a couple of accommodations and floating rafts, you will enter deep into the national park. You won't see a single human construction or building for few kilometres until you reach the River Kwai Cool Camp. Built by a Norwegian gentleman and his Thai best friend with their bare hands, the camp is powered by solar panels and rainwater is used for the shower and toilet facilities.
At the camp, you will be met by the park rangers who will take you to their home. Enjoy a simple local lunch before exploring the thick jungle with the rangers. If you're not keen to join the trek, don't worry! Some bicycles are available for a fun and relaxed drive among the plantations. In the early evening, join the locals for a tasty BBQ at the camp.
