Reiserute

Southern Pearls - Split to Dubrovnik - 8 days (Traditional Ensuite)

Day 1: Split - Makarska

Check in between 11:00-12:00. Departure from Split harbour at 13:00 (late arrivals can join in Makarska) and cruise along the Dalmatian coast towards Makarska whilst enjoying lunch. Afternoon swim at one of the wonderful beaches. For the adrenaline lovers, there’s an optional zipline ride over the Cetina river canyon (not included). Overnight in Makarska, the famous tourist destination with many restaurants and bars and a beautiful promenade along the famous beach. Enjoy the magic of Makarska Riviera and be sure to take a walk along the city streets - with an abundance of churches and other cultural sites.

Meals included: Lunch

Day 2: Makarska - Bol (Brac)- Stari Grad

In the morning, cruise towards the next destination - the island of Brač, more precisely to the town of Bol, known for its famous Zlatni Rat beach (Golden Horn), a natural phenomenon that dominates the other beaches with its specific form. After a swimming break at the horn and lunch, we continue our journey towards Stari Grad on the Hvar island, the sunniest Adriatic island. Free afternoon to explore this unique town. The famous Stari Grad Field is the oldest in Croatia and the best-preserved example of an ancient Greek system of agriculture. Overnight in one of the ports of Stari Grad, main or ferry port (2 km away) depending on availability in port.

Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch

Day 3: Stari Grad - Hvar

The next destination is the town of Hvar, a favourite destination for jet setters from all around the world. After lunch, we stop for swimming, relaxing and refreshment in the clear, crystal blue sea at nearby Paklinski islands. Arrive at Hvar in the afternoon hours followed by a guided tour of this extraordinary town (not included). Hvar offers many cultural and historical sites (Renaissance cathedral, the oldest communal theatre in Europe founded in 1612, Franciscan monastery, the Benedictine convent famous for their lace listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, Spanjola fortress towering high above the town...) and many restaurants and bars open late into the night.

Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch

Day 4: Hvar - (Blue cave) Vis

Early in the morning, we cruise towards little Biševo island to visit the Blue cave, a magnificent natural phenomenon. As sometimes weather conditions can be very unpredictable, the possibility of our visit will depend on those conditions, however, you will be notified of this by the crew. Entrance to Blue Cave is to be paid on the spot (approx. EUR 14.- per person, not included). We continue towards the island of Vis, which was a strategic navy harbour due to its unique geographical position and as such closed to the public until recently. Because of its isolation, Vis has a special charm, "the Mediterranean as it once was", which makes it really interesting to see. Overnight is in the town of Vis, situated on the northern side of the island, developed near the remains of ancient Issa, the first urban centre in Croatia. If interested, visit the remains of the Roman thermal place, city museum or simply take a walk enjoying the view of beautiful "Villae Rusticae" situated along the coast.

Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch

Day 5: Vis - Korčula

During breakfast, we depart towards Korčula, the birthplace of the famous explorer and adventurer, Marco Polo. Surrounded by medieval walls, Korčula resembles a miniature Dubrovnik when approaching from the sea. It has more legends, tales, and monuments than you will find anywhere else. Today, Korčula is the only place in the world where the Spanish medieval knight's game, Moreška, is still performed. Upon arrival, you can enjoy a guided walking tour through the streets of the old town built in the shape of a fishbone (not included). Enjoy the numerous konobas/taverns, restaurants, cocktail bars, or nightclubs located within and around the city walls. Overnight in port.

Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch

Day 6: Korčula - Mljet - Šipan or Slano

Cruising continues towards one of the greenest Adriatic islands - the island of Mljet, where on the western part, the Mljet National Park is situated (entrance fee EUR 20 per person, at own cost). Free time to enjoy the beauties of the National Park. Two salt lakes are connected to the sea by a narrow channel, take a boat ride to the St Mary isle in the Great Lake, where the old church and monastery are situated. Enjoy cycling around, canoeing, or swimming in the lakes. The cruise resumes towards Šipan, part of Elaphite islands near Dubrovnik, or towards Slano on the coastline. Both are small fishermen's villages, in one of which we will stay overnight in the port.

Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch

Day 7: Šipan or Slano - Dubrovnik

Early in the morning, we depart towards our final destination - a true pearl of the Adriatic. After lunch, short swim-stop. Join a guided tour of Dubrovnik (not included), followed by an optional cable car ride (not included) up to Srđ mountain for spectacular views of the old town. We recommend a stroll along the city walls, 1940 meters in length with magnificent views of the old town of Dubrovnik and the surrounding islands. Overnight in the harbour Gruž.

Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch

Day 8: Dubrovnik

An early breakfast before the final goodbyes to the new friends and crew and check-out at 09:00.

Overnatting

Traditional ensuite:
Traditional wooden vessels featuring air-conditioned cabins with private shower/toilet, mostly bunk beds, air-conditioned salon.

Choose between under deck cabins or on deck cabins. Cabins are mostly bunk beds and include ensuite shower/toilet.

"On deck" cabins can be situated on the main deck (deck on which you step on as you embark the ship ) and on the upper deck (deck on top of the main deck). "Under deck" cabins can be found below deck and are actually in the hull of the boat. Advantage of cabins situated on deck is the direct exit to the sea and more fresh air, while cabins below deck are sometimes more quiet (only fellow passengers who have booked below deck cabins will pass by and not all passengers from your ship as well as other ships when docked) and comfortable because they're situated in a sea level that chills cabins and hallways below deck. Cabins below deck mostly have little portholes.

The crew does not enter your cabins during the cruise, so you need to keep your cabin clean by yourself.

Cabins are air-conditioned, and salons and hallways below deck usually have air conditioning. Air conditioning is turned on only while the motor or generator works, or while the boat is connected to electricity in harbor. If the boat is docked at sea or in a smaller fish harbor that doesn't have an electricity plug, air conditioning is turned off, because otherwise the generator would disturb the peace and quiet.

For single travellers wishing a private cabin, a single supplement is available.

Lokal transport

For the duration of the cruise you will be on one of our traditional ensuite boats. All our boats are motor boats made of wood or iron. Boats are different sizes and shapes and we do not know which boat you will be one until 2 weeks before departure. Boat owners are mostly captains for whom this job is a part of a family tradition, so it’s not rare that the crew members are part of one family. Depending on its size, your boat will have about five crew members. Usually that means a captain, a chef, a waiter and deck hands.

Transfer to and from the boat/harbor are NOT included in the price. You will have to make your own way to us!

Måltider

Some meals are included:
Continental breakfast and 3-course lunch, as well as complimentary water, is included daily.

Food onboard is similar to traditional Croatian food. Breakfast is a continental breakfast, and consists of tea and coffee, fruit juice, bread, butter, jam, and sometimes ham and cheese. Lunch is traditionally plentiful. It consists of soup or pasta as starter, a main dish with side dishes, salad and dessert. Main dish is two or three times weekly a fish, and in other cases meat or chicken. Side dishes are potatoes, cabbage and other vegetables. Dessert is fruit or cake. Dinner is not included because we encourage you to explore local restaurants.
