Essential Tanzania Safari: Tarangire, Lake Manyara & Ngorongoro Highlights

On arrival in Arusha, meet your private safari guide either at Arusha airport or your hotel and head straight to Arusha National Park. It is recommended that you arrive no later than 10am to get the most out of your day. Spend the day exploring its lush montane forests, crater lakes, and open plains. Look out for giraffes, buffalo, flamingos, colobus monkeys, and more. In the evening, settle into Moivaro Coffee Plantation Lodge, surrounded by tranquil gardens just outside Arusha town.

After breakfast, drive to Tarangire National Park, famous for its vast elephant herds and iconic baobab trees. Game drives here reveal lions, wildebeest, zebras, and over 500 bird species. In the late afternoon, continue to Migunga Tented Camp, set in a peaceful acacia forest near Mto wa Mbu.

Travel to Lake Manyara National Park, dramatically framed by the Rift Valley escarpment. The park offers diverse habitats where you may see elephants, hippos, flamingos, and the famous tree-climbing lions. Continue into the Ngorongoro Highlands and overnight at Crater Forest Tented Camp.

Descend early into the Ngorongoro Crater, one of Africa’s most spectacular wildlife destinations. With its dense concentration of animals, you have excellent chances to spot lions, black rhino, hippos, and large herds of zebra and wildebeest. After a picnic lunch inside the crater, return to Arusha for your onward journey. This is the end of the tour.
