Landmannalaugar Hiking Day Tour

Landmannalaugar is a beautiful region in the remote highlands of Iceland and is known globally for its spectacular scenery and hiking trails. Featuring colorful rhyolite mountains, hot springs, clear blue lakes, and a variety of other geological formations, this bubbling geothermal wonderland will leave you speechless.

People travel the globe to hike the stunning trails of Landmannalaguar, particularly the famous Laugavegur trail, which starts here. On your tour you'll trek through the vast Icelandic landscapes, glimpsing jaw-dropping views of the Fjallabak Reserve with plenty of time for photos. We'll end our day of hiking with a relaxing soak in the natural hot pool.

Your hiking adventure will start from the main hut. You will then take off for about four hours, where you will hike around the most magnificent landscapes. The total hiking distance is approximately 8-10 km. The route goes over the Laugahraun lava field, through Vondugil Canyon, and up to Mt. Brennisteinsalda, a multicolored peak that is highly characteristic of the area.

On the way down, you will walk down Graenagil Gorge, called Green Gorge in Icelandic because of the dominant green color of rhyolite in the area. To end this phenomenal day, you will have the opportunity to soak in the hot pool and take in the spectacular surroundings of this phenomenal place!
